Sunday, 04 February 2007

Fr. Dave Concepcion celebrated mass for the Magis Deo Community on Friday, February 2, at 7:30PM, at the San Carlos Lay Formation Center.

Fr. Dave is the Vocation, Pastoral and Spiritual Director of the Holy Apostles Senior Seminary, at the San Carlos Lay Formation Center. He is also the president of the Catholic Travel Inc., the official travel agency of the Catholic Church.

The theme of this First Friday Community Celebration was "Keeping The Fire Alive" and Fr. Dave stuck to the theme with a lot of humor and real-life examples and anecdotes which practically had the whole community on their feet during the entire homily.

Commitment to and making the decision to love one’s spouse are keys to long-term relationships and keeping the love and the fire alive, says Fr. Dave.

Blessing of the candles and of the February birthday and anniversary celebrants was also done by Fr. Dave.

The Micah BCGG, led by Rey and Nitz Eslava, and the Genesis BCGG, under Eli and Edith Prieto, had 100% attendance in this community celebration but Micah was given the free cake (courtesy of Red Ribbon) over Genesis because Genesis, along with the Thessalonians BCGG, are hosts to this event.

Other BCGG’s with high attendance are: Beatitudes under by Rey and Nette Arceo at 89% and Thessalonians led by Rey and Lucy Mella at 85%.

Monchito and Tina Mossesgeld, 2006 Council Chair Couple  gave a summary of  what happened the past year, while Philip and Malu Panlilio, 2007 Chair Couple, presented the directions and plans for the year 2007.

The presence of ME Classes 66, 79, 80, 81, 84, 85 and 87 was acknowledged.

Atoy Apo of ME Class 85, under Ed and Sol Macalalad, won the raffle for one free ME Weekend candidate on March 9-11 at the BLD Retreat House.

The North Sector along with two BCGG’s – Genesis and Thessalonians – hosted this First Friday Community Celebration and ably assisted the Community Services Ministry under Rey and Lucy Mella. Rey Mella was master of ceremonies for the evening’s affair.
